Relieving Second Semester
I have received my grades for my second semester of college and I did just fine which is extremely relieving. The whole semester I was worried about some of my classes and how well I would do in them. My semester GPA was 3.28 and with my first semester GPA I have a cumulative GPA of 3.34.
Finishing the second semester means that I am one fourth of the way through my college career. Only three more years to go, and with how fast this one went, there is nothing to worry about time-wise. I have to study more than I did this semester. World of Warcraft definitely curved my enthusiasm for studying.
I hope your summer is as relaxing as I wish mine to be.
When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?
I recently finished When Will Jesus Bring the Pork chops? by George Carlin. While there are some great parts which deal almost exclusively with political correctness, the majority of the book seemed below my substandard college humor. It almost seemed as if Carlin started to get tired of writing so he just slapped something down on paper and his editor didn’t care. If you like Carlin and haven’t read any of his books, I highly recommend Brain Droppings, definitely his best book. I haven’t tried Napalm and Silly Putty, but a friend of mine told me it was a good book.
Anyways, my next book will be A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin.
Home Sweet Home
Well, I am finally home and (somewhat) settled in. It is great to be back from college and to be done with my freshman year of college. To think I only have three more years to go, not bad when you think about it. I have been busy with reorganizing my room, cleaning up and unpacking all of my stuff from college. It was a ton of stuff for such a small room. I have been working on getting my house’s wireless internet working and it doesn’t like to cooperate, but I have it running a different firmware now and it seems to be doing just fine.
Calculus Exam
Well, I took my Calculus exam at 7:00 pm and just got back. That exam was extremely tough and I am definitely worried about the end result. I am pretty sure that I won’t fail, but my GPA is not going to just shoot up either. The first part, which was common to all Math 1206 courses, was just unnerving because of the pattern the dots left on the paper. It was mostly B and D answers. The part that my personal teacher made up was just rough. It was definitely very hard and I don’t know how I did on that.
My next exam is at 7:45 am and is in Engineering. I hope that I know what they want, because studying for a class where there is little or no material is pretty hard. You have to hope you know what they are going to ask…
Having Fun
As I look back upon my Freshman year of college, I think of lots of things. I think about how hard some of my classes were, not having to wake up at 6:30, like I did for high school, walking to class instead of driving, and most importantly the friends I have met in college. They have made my life here at Virginia Tech much much easier. They make me laugh and we never have a bad time together.
Had I not met my friends, I would be sad and depressed and sitting in my room. They raise my spirits when I am down. For instance, when I got a failing grade on my first Vector test, they were there for me, letting me know that I could defintely pull out a passing grade in that class.
While I can’t wait to have my own appartment and my own room, I will miss living in B3 (Barringer 3rd floor). I met my best friends in college in this hall. I will always have some attachment to B3 and the friends that I met here and my first year of college. I hope that I can always keep in touch with them and hang out with them as well.
