Today, a friend of mine thought it humorous to tell me that we had a test in a class that I had to miss as a result of going to pick up my car from my friend’s dealership. I was pretty sure there was no test, yet there was still a doubt because today was the original day for the test. I precisely remember the professor changing the date and writing it up.

After class was over, my friend sent me a message telling me it was just a joke. I gave him a small bit of advice: to never do that again.

No one enjoys being lied to. Majority of the time, jokes are fine and dandy, but when you joke about something that could affect all the work you have put in for a semester, it’s completely different. In addition, my friend knows how I feel about my academics; so it felt doubly insulting.

Good Things Still Happen

without comments

Amongst the daily news of death, destruction and war, there might occasionally be a small bit of news that puts a smile to your face and lets you know that good things still happen to people. It’s sad that we have to look for this type of news, that it isn’t slid among a suicide bomber and a rape. You need to smile and remember that good news doesn’t sell anything and that there is plenty of good news in the world, but maybe you should make someone’s day and give them a reason to smile. I think the world would be a much better place.

Flattered.

Today, walking out of Owens, I recieved a compliment. Whenever I walk out of a building I always hold the door open for whoever is behind me, it’s just common courtesy. Anyways, I hold the door open for some gentlemen and one in the group pays me this classic compliment: “You are both a gentleman and a scholar, sir.” I must have a had a huge smile on my face as I pushed a “Thank you, sir,” out of my mouth. It’s amazing to me that something that small made my day. Thanks to whoever you are. Have a great day.

Sick and Sad…Again?

without comments

Theres a whole bunch of crap that happened between Catch 22 and Streetlight Manifesto. Streetlight Manifesto spawned from an amazingly talented band — Catch 22 — when some bickering came to be or something else…I’m not sure. Anyways, they are both good bands with similar sounds.

Yet, Streetlight Manifesto went where it should not have gone. They are releasing an album called “Keasby Nights” which will be a DIRECT copy of the original “Keasby Nights” by Catch 22. I don’t care who sounds better or if the lead singer from Catch 22 left for Streetlight Manifesto in the mess, this is utter crap. I like punk and ska covers of songs because its a different twist. This album is not a collection of covers, its a directo copy of an album.

My recommendation to people would be to NOT buy Streetlight Manifesto’s version of the album, but to go buy Catch 22’s, which happens to be the original. It’s a great album, but don’t buy the copy, buy the original.

Apparently this was meant to be a remastering of the album because they didn’t like the quality of recording. My opinion on the matter is, make new music and leave what is good alone.
