Where Did The Weekend Go?
I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night, my girlfriend made beef stew for her roomates and I, and we watched Shawshank Redemption — which she had never seen. Had a nice breakfast the next morning thanks to her roommate’s boyfriend. Didn’t do much when I got home, but went right back out for dinner at El Rod’s and a movie. We went to see “Catch and Release”, which I had a very skewed view of. The guy who won over the girl was the same actor who played the adult film director in “The Girl Next Door”, and to sum it up: he wasn’t the nicest guy.
It went by fast, too fast for my tastes, but it was a good weekend.
Hmm, walking out of the bathroom this seemed like a fantastic idea. So fantastic in fact, that I might do it on a monthly basis!
Well, a year ago I was starting my first semester as a Business Information Technology major. I was working dutifully on my various requirements: Accounting, Business Stats, etc. I was probably still sweating the switch to Business: the feeling that I may be deserting my “friends” or leaving it “all” behind. I now know that I did the right thing: I’m much happier, much more sane and actually enjoying college.
It was my second semester in my apartment, and I was still loving it (still do!). I can’t stress nearly enough that you will be more sane and like college a heck of a lot more when you have a nice clean common area, a nearby kitchen, a bathroom that is typically clean (if not, you know who to blame) and a room all to yourself!
I was breaking up with a girl who couldn’t hold a candle to my girlfriend. Why was I with her you ask? I’m not entirely sure. In hindsight, I should have never started anything. Then again, had I not been with her, I would have never broken up with her. In turn, I might have never met my girlfriend. I went swing dancing that one particular night because I was lonely and bored, and it just so happened that I would meet someone that night that would change my life.
Also, on this particular day a year ago, I put up a poem that I truly enjoy. The name was Desolation, which to most would sound fairly depressing and emotional. However, it was more about an image that sticks in my mind of a destroyed beach. To me there is no scene more beautiful that a decimated old beach-front bar, or maybe it was just a colorful wooden shack, I’m not sure. The sun is setting, making the whole thing a soft amber. A formerly creme colored boat has washed up onto the shore and it’s missing chunks here and there. For some reason, that’s my random idea of beauty.
Mishaps Happening
So, I think its kinda obvious I have a music problem. I listen to way to much and love listening to everthing I can get my hands on, barring rap and emo. Every now and again there comes a song (not an artist or album) that I love so much it gets played over and over again. Hopefully its not just because the radio plays it or that it has some crazy hooks in it that keep me coming back for the killer guitar riff, even though that has happend.
This time it’s Quantic’s Mishaps Happening. Just wow, the song reminds me of summer, vacation and beaches. A wonderful little song when my car is becoming covered in ice and I have to wear a wool coat, a scarf (that my sister knit for me, she’s awesome) and my leather gloves (that my amazing girlfriend bought for me). Maybe, I’ll keep adding songs that remind me of summer, would be nice to think about…
Lazy Sunday
Well, not much got done today, but it was a very good day none the less. I spent the vast majority of it with my girlfriend and sat around relaxing. I guess the main reason for all that bum-age is because of the wintery mix outside. A nice mish-mash of snow, ice and rain. However, the roads turned out to be the consistency of a runny Slurpee.
In other good news, my schedule is completely hashed out and incredibly convenient (or so I think). On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, my first class is at 10:10 and I am “done” by noon (I used to start an hour earlier on Friday with a block of nothing in between the two classes). And by “done” I mean I leave around 1:30 because of my lunch hour. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be completely different beasts; they only have one more class but are much worse in terms of time spent on campus. Yet, there is no break between the classes. I start at 9:30 and finish up around 1:45. In the end its a nice schedule because there’s no goofing around going back and forth between campus and home.
Snazzy
Oh yes, all dressed up and with somewhere to go too. My girlfriend and I are going to a little shindig tonight for the Marching Virginians. So I had to dress to the nines (okay, maybe the eights or sevens, no jacket..). I’m sure I’ll get a picture at some point, but the color of the night is lime green
